An excellent movie, and it is based on a true story, and that makes it all the more compelling. Jeff Bridges is at his best in this roll, and the acting and cast is wonderful. The movie is named after an event that is none as a white Squall, which was thought by some to be an old sea Captains tall tail, but is in fact a true freak occurrence, like rouge waves that were thought to also tail told by old sailors, and of course the scientist said no such thing took place, but we now know that rouge wave destroy one super cargo container ship a month. Mostly, off the Africa cost near Madagascar.
